Delivery schedule and weather conditions
Wine is shipped via UPS and cannot be sent to a PO Box. Allocated orders will ship within 1-2 business days, or per our “good shipping practice” for wine i.e.: weather, time-in- transit, etc. Courier limits may cause additional delays. An additional 1-2 days may be
required during peak shipping seasons.
During the hot days of summer and coldest months of winter, we strongly recommend that any wine being shipped use either 2nd Day or Overnight shipping to protect the wine from extreme temperatures. Although it may be a reasonable temperature where you reside, wine can be exposed to extreme temperatures while traveling along the entirety of the Ground shipping route to your door. If you do select Ground Shipping, we may hold your wine for you until the weather is appropriate for shipping to protect your investment.
Adult Signature Requirement
We strongly suggest shipping your order to a business address. Federal law, as well as UPS regulations, requires an adult signature (at least 21 years of age) at the time of delivery for every package containing wine. It is the shipper’s responsibility to ensure an adult is available to sign for the shipment upon delivery. Any additional charges for rerouting or reshipping wine due to the addressee being unavailable to accept a shipment is solely the responsibility of the recipient.
Why don’t you ship to my state?
Unfortunately, there’s not a blanket federal system that allows direct shipments to all states and instead every winery must become legally compliant with each individual state that they wish to ship to. State requirements vary greatly from state to state, with some being very simple and inexpensive, whereas others require extremely expensive permits, unreasonable applications and/or the need for us to pay an accountant to provide highly detailed monthly tax reporting to a given state for each order we process.
Due to the cost of some permits, and more significantly the tax accounting cost associated with shipping, we choose which states to direct ship wine based on the requests of our wine to be shipped there against the overall costs associated with shipping there. Thus, this is a way of saying that it’s quite complicated and each winery, particularly small ones like ourselves, have to look at which states make the most sense to establish shipping.
We add additional states every year and yours could be next. Please let us know if you are interested in having us ship to your state by contacting us at info@coeurcause.com and we’ll add your request to our list. When we add new shipping states, we reach out to those who are on our email list in the new shipping state to notify them that we’re now compliant to ship.
